- Sodimac, one of Latin America’s largest home improvement retailers, partnered with experts
from Silicon Valley to develop Ozom, a pioneering smart home platform designed to make home
automation simple and affordable. The challenge was to turn complex IoT interactions into an
intuitive mobile experience anyone could use.
- Goal:
Create a clear, user-friendly interface that allowed people to
connect, monitor, and control their devices with confidence—scalable across markets and
compatible with a growing ecosystem of over 100 smart products.
- Process:
I designed a mobile app focused on simplicity and feedback,
guiding users through pairing, monitoring, and control with clear visual cues. Early designs in
Sketch were later migrated to Figma, establishing a flexible component system that supported
localization and future integrations with platforms like Google Assistant and Philips
Hue.
- Outcome:
Ozom expanded from five pilot stores in Chile to six countries
across Latin America, becoming one of Sodimac’s fastest-growing proprietary brands. Its
accessible design earned strong user feedback and positioned Sodimac as a leader in affordable
smart home innovation across the region.
